Animorphs: The Alien

Another week, another chance for us to gush over how awesome the Animorphs books are. This time we’re talking the first Ax book in the series (well, besides his parts in the last Megamorphs episode). We’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: this book feels like the beginning of “season 2” of the Animorphs continuity. Fittingly, this season starts out by officially adding a new member to the main cast. Tricky, since he’s been there since book 4… But now it’s official! Look, he’s got official cover art now and everything! As much as we love the book, we’ve got a lot of criticism for it as well. It’s definitely a mixed review. Finally, be sure to check out the hilarious Peek video review of our website by some old lady who knows nothing about Animorphs or podcasts.

This week, hosts Mitchell and Coleman geek out about Ax’s first official character design, how terrible the Animorphs are at watching Ax, cool ways for Yeerks to die, kangaroo battle morph, the many conveniences of the plot, how Cassie finally snapped and went too far, how Ax phoning home makes absolutely no sense, when the plot jumped the shark, the many friendship speeches of this book, and our different opinions on Seerow’s Kindness! All that and more in the review of Animorphs book 8, “The Alien.”

Wanna know where besides here you can listen to our show? Subscribe to the podcast on iTunes and/or Stitcher so that more people can find us. Be sure to rate it and review it as well. Email us your thoughts on the next book, “Book 9: The Secret” at and we’ll read them in that episode and probably say something stupid.

We hope you enjoy hearing us talk as much as we do!
