Animorphs: VISSER

Thought-Speak is delighted to invite you to our recap and review of a very special Animorphs offshoot, Visser. Joining the typical lineup of hosts, Mitchell and Coleman, is a brave Animorphs fan and Andalite-tier Patreon subscriber, Richard! After all, such a special book requires a very special extra host! And over the next two hours, we’ll try our damndest to convince you to read this book with our constant adoration and highly-sung praise. We’re not kidding around here folks, this is one of the best Animorphs books and if you haven’t read it yet, you’re doing yourself a disservice. If that’s the case, go read Visser for crying out loud! Then come back and listen to this episode of Thought-Speak! Those are your orders!! Now I’ll commence the mandatory comedic summary of said episode!

You thought she was dead…  after her son pushed her off a cliffbut now she’s backand this time…. her life is on the line. That’s Marco’s mom. Eva. Or as she’s better known these days, Visser One. Make that: EX-Visser One. The former leader of the Yeerk invasion on Earth. Highest ranking Yeerk in the empire, serving directly under the mysterious Council of 13. The most powerful and influential Yeerks, The Council presides over the trial of Visser One. Her past crimes come to light in this gripping tale of abandonment, kidnapping, weird four-way stockholm syndrome-y relationships, and quelling the human spirit with drugs, both of the metaphorical cult community type, and the very literal kind, like cocaine. You won’t know who to cheer for in this wild thrill-ride, where the villainous Visser Three barks one-liners at Visser One, and whines to the most powerful Council of Yeerks, all in an effort to get someone already condemned to death an…even harsher sentence? Err… he wants to do the Earth invasion his way? Even though he’s the one in control there already, and could probably just do it? I dunno. He ends up on trial himself by the end of this thing. Watch Eva, the helpless victim in all this, struggle against her sheer innate human nature to survive against impossible odds and her desire to see the parasite alien invading her brain and body die in a most-horrible way possible, even if it means her own death. And finally, root for Visser One, the most antagonistic protagonist to ever grace an Animorphs book, and the only one to not make it onto the cover of her own book. You’ll admire her tenacity and ambition to be the best parasitic body-snatching alien and deliver her Empire an ULTRA RARE Class-5 alien civilization. You won’t believe the transformation she goes through as an alien invader, impervious to human concepts like love and self-sacrifice, into an alien invader who is aware of and has experienced firsthand love, intimacy, and creating life and a family, but still decides to do all the wrong things anyway. Will she be able to walk away from this trial a free Yeerk-woman? Will Eva ever get to reunite with her beloved Marco?  Will Visser Three ever get to look at least semi-competent in front of anyone who outranks him? Will the Animorphs (and possibly even Ax?) get to make a quick cameo?? All these questions and more are surely on your mind, as we delve into the awesomeness that is the Animorphs special event book: VISSER.
